How To Choose The Right Computer For Computer Design Work

Desktop publishing entered this world in the 1980s as a revolution to those working in the field of computer. It was a feast day for designers working with graphics because now they had competent equipment that replaced large compositing systems. Thus emerged a new term called computer design.

Today, graphic designers are completely dependent upon computer for producing designs, whether they use Windows or a Mac. Whatever a designer chooses, he knows it is going to produce the best results for his work. No decent computer designer will go for cheap computer hardware.

There was a time when Mac was the sole option if a person wanted to do designing or printing since all layouts were Mac based. That was the time when Macs were linked to technologies used for pre-press. However, today Windows and Mac OS X both can be used to for graphic designing.

There are very few graphic designers that are IT specialists and thus face the problem of deciding the best computer for their work. If money is not a constraint, one can go for the costliest Apple Mac or choose Windows PC. Most designers do have a budget constraint though and thus they must think about what suits them the best.

Graphic designers look for a computer with the facilities that are not normally always present with a common computer. These are calibrated monitor, speedy hard disk, color and printer accuracy, external storage tools, etc.

There are five computers specially made and customized for designers, with appropriate software. They are Mac Pro Desktop which is most preferred, MacBook Pro Laptop with hi-fi NVDIA graphics, Dell Studio XPS desktop with Intel Core i5/ i7 processor and ATI graphics, Toshiba Qosmio Laptop with NVIDIA GeForce graphics card; the most affordable and HP Pavilion Elite Desktop that runs on AMD Athlon.
